MULTISCALE MODELLING OF HEAT TRANSFER INSIDE THE VACUUM CHAMBER FOR
TRANSFORMER DRYING PROCESS
The vacuum drying process is an essential phase in transformer production due to the low final moisture content requirement for cellulose insulation. This process involves moisture extraction through vacuum and heat application. Since the drying rate is significantly influenced by the boundary conditions at the interface between the insulation and the surrounding atmosphere, properly defining these boundary conditions should require simulating both heat and mass transfer within the oven. This simulation should include convection and radiation heat transfer between the insulation, chamber walls, and heating surfaces, as well as the pump down and venting processes. This work presents a mathematical model and corresponding simulation that considers all these factors.

He graduated from the graduate study program in mechanical engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture of University of Zagreb (FSB) in 2020. Today, he is an assistant at the FSB's Chair of Technical Thermodynamics of the Department of Thermodynamics, Thermal and Process Engineering.
